Pioli ignores Milan criticism ahead of Lecce encounter

After two successive winless matches, including their elimination from the Coppa Italia, Stefano Pioli shrugged off the criticism that was coming his way, saying Milan must be put under the microscope as reigning Scudetto holders.

Speaking ahead of the Rossoneris’ visit to the Stadio Comunale Via del Mare to face Lecce, Pioli deflected the critical remarks.

“I think it’s normal that there is a more critical look at us because we won the Scudetto and played good football. We are the first who always want to do better. The critics are there after the last two games because we didn’t win (via MilanNews)

Besides Serie A, Pioli also shed light on the upcoming Supercoppa Italiana final against Inter.

The season is long, it won’t even end tonight after Napoli-Juventus. The Super Cup is an immediate and important goal for us. The championship is still long, let’s not forget the number of points we had in mid-February last year. In terms of points, we want to do better than last year.

Unbeaten in their last five Serie A games, Lecce are next for the Rossoneri. However, Milan themselves are unbeaten in their last eight league meetings with Lecce (W5, D3), scoring 20 goals in the process.
