Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victor Aluko, has slammed false allegations that his staff colluded with certain people to prevent eligible Nigerians from getting their ID cards. permanent voters.
Aluko made the statement on Friday while answering questions on Channels Television’s Politics Today program.
He said any member of his staff who prevented Nigerians from getting their PVCs back would be punished and prosecuted.
“Well, personally, I don’t think so. I do not believe anyone is colluding with anyone to stop eligible Nigerians from getting their PVCs back. I do not think so.
“Yes, we thank Nigerians for trusting us and believing in us. And the commission’s position is that any member of our staff who is found to have done such a thing will be punished and even prosecuted because it is against the law to deny eligible people their PVCs back. This is obstruction, and any staff member found guilty of doing such a thing will be punished.
“If anyone sees a staff member doing such a thing, please report it, and the commission won’t sweep it under the rug; such personnel in any part of the country will be punished,” Aluko said.
