Christina Hall is facing online criticism with a new perspective.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 39-year-old Christina on the Coast star opened up about dealing with online haters and why they don’t reach out to her as much as they used to.

“I give myself some time to be upset,” she revealed to PEOPLE, “and usually the things that upset me are when people make blunt statements about things they have no idea about. Sometimes it really irritates me and then I’ll talk to [my husband] Josh about it.”

Christina has been the target of critics expressing their thoughts on her parenting and the inclusion of her children on her social media, particularly in regards to her youngest son, Hudson, 3.

The couple have spoken of “shut out the negativity” when they’re together in the past, and Josh isn’t shy about defending his wife from haters in his Instagram comments.

The Flip or Flop alum continues, “The thing is, people already have a preconceived idea in their head. You could literally show them the truth and they could still say, no, it’s not the truth. .”

After allowing herself to be upset for a short time, she says, she then moves on and recalls, “I have a great life and I can’t focus on pleasing everyone.

The ability to block bullies also came with age, she says. “I think the older I get the less I care. I’m approaching 40 in a few months and what I’ve heard is that in your 40s you’re the most confident and most confident you are. comfortable in your own skin.”

Instead of focusing on the negative comments, the home improvement expert looks forward to the upcoming projects she has planned for the next chapter of her life.

“I really want to create my own home line, like a Christina-type collection,” she told PEOPLE. “So that’s something we’re working on right now, getting it in a big box store. Hopefully that will happen next year.”

She adds that she’s looking to start “a webinar on manifesting and building wealth in your dream life. I think that might be pretty cool.”

In addition to tackling her upcoming projects, Christina is looking forward to the premiere of Christina in the Country (a spinoff of her California-based home improvement show Christina on the Coast) airing January 12. The new limited series will debut the flippers she and Josh worked on in Tennessee as they expanded her design business down south.

The couple also settled in the region. Christina purchased her Franklin, Tennessee, farm in early 2021 and has spent time there with her children: daughter Taylor, 12, and son Brayden, 7, whom she shares with first husband Tarek El Moussa, and his 3 year old son. son Hudson, whom she shares with second husband Ant Anstead.

With enough room to house all of her chickens (and soon mini donkeys and goats), the designer, who splits her time between California and Tennessee, says she’s fallen in love with country life and hopes to make a living there. retire with Josh.

“It’s the best,” Christina told PEOPLE. “This is definitely where we will retire. I would like to do the opposite [of what I do now]: I would love to live there full time and then have a nice little beach cottage in California, La Jolla, that we will come back to.”
