WWE CEO Nick Khan has said he believes Chairman Vince McMahon has been honest about the misconduct allegations made against him last year.
As noted, Khan recently appeared on The Bill Simmons Podcast to discuss a number of topics. You can click here for his comments on AEW President Tony Khan and whether he’s a threat, and you can click here for Khan’s comments on working with the McMahon family, Vince’s return, Stephanie McMahon’s future , WWE Sale Discussion and Saudi Arabia Rumors, and Sequel.
During the interview, Khan was asked if he was worried about new revelations about Vince. Khan said he was not.
“It’s like wherever it happened, it happened and it was there,” Khan said of Vince. “And people know that I’ve always found him to be a very honest broker with this stuff. So even when the process started last summer, there was nothing he was hiding, he wasn’t there was nothing he was hiding. I think he was very honest about that and I appreciated that, and I think a lot of other people did too.
Simmons later mentioned former WWE referee Rita Chatterton, who recently sought $11.75 million in damages after she publicly accused McMahon of raping her in a limo three decades ago, allegations which McMahon has since denied. Khan was asked if potential suitors would wait to see how the Chatterton situation and other possible situations unfold before coming forward.
“I think everyone is moving forward,” Khan replied. “Because in all of these endeavors, there is never a clean, clear path. There is always a clutter, something in the way, an obstacle in the way that you have to go around or cross. So, I see that as I would with any other item like this.
Khan was also asked about Vince’s potential return to WWE TV. He said that was not happening right now, but things could change.
Regarding the potential sale of WWE, Khan said it was possible McMahon might only sell part of the business, pointing to the phrase “strategic alternative” that was constantly used during the interview and in recent WWE filings since Vince’s return.
“When he uses the term ‘strategic alternative’, it’s not cute. Basically, they were looking at everything,” Khan said.
