The Blues battled to win against SpursNot at their best this seasonStill chasing domestic and continental crowns

WHAT HAPPENED? The demanding Catalan manager was far from impressed with his side’s performance or the attitude of those in the stands despite City recovering from a 2-0 half-time draw against Tottenham to win a 4-2 win in their last Premier League outing. . After the contest, Guardiola was again quizzed on why the Citizens are supposed to fail to live up to the standards they have set in recent years, with more questions being asked about their ability to claim an elusive League of Nations crown. champions, and an angry response was delivered. by a tactician who won 11 trophies during his reign at the Etihad Stadium.

WHAT THEY SAID: Guardiola said: People say we weren’t successful because we didn’t win the Champions League – bullshit! We have won a lot. Two back to back [Premier Leagues] in this country, and the way we played, the consistency, against this Liverpool. What a success.

BIGGEST PICTURE: Guardiola added when asked why he was suddenly so animated about events on and off the pitch, with City fans making little noise against Spurs before booing the home side from the pitch at half-time: I want an unfair reaction from the players, the staff, the whole organization. We are a happy flower team, I don’t want that. I want to beat Arsenal. I can’t deny how happy we are [to win]. But we are far from the team we were. There are many things from which we are far, very far. We play because ‘my manager told me to do this and that’ but there is nothing from the belly, from the guts. We were lucky, and if we don’t change, sooner or later we will lose points. No passion, fire, desire to win from the first minute.
