Recording artist Jeffery Williams, 31, better known by his stage name Young Thug, is facing aggravating legal problems in Georgia amid a slow start to his racketeering trial (RICO).

Prosecutors say Thug and a co-defendant, Kahlieff Adams, engaged in a melee drug deal that was caught on court surveillance footage, resulting in the third suspension of jury selection in the court. part of the sweeping conspiracy lawsuit against the alleged Atlanta-area gang known as Young Slime Life, or YSL.

“Defendant Adams, who is currently serving a life sentence without parole for murder, conducted a melee drug transaction with defendant Jeffery Lamar Williams, in open court,” the petition begins. state accusing Khalieff Adams of numerous new charges.

Thug was not charged over the smuggling allegations, but the court took the opportunity to remind everyone of the rules.

“The reason for the delay is that we had another case of alleged contraband brought into our space,” Judge Ural Glanville said after the new motion was filed by prosecutors late Wednesday night. As a result of this and subsequent investigation, one of our inmates unfortunately had to go to Grady Hospital.

After the incident, Khalieff Adams was taken to hospital for allegedly ingesting contraband in an attempt to cover it up.

“I would just invite lawyers to talk with their clients,” the judge said, exasperated. “This is the third time we have brought contraband into this space…the court’s concern is that it could cause problems for [the defendants] stay and be present in this space.

Suri Chadha Jimenez, lawyer for third co-defendant Cordarius Dorsey, accused prosecutors of trying to increase media coverage with the motion and said the deputies should be investigated for excessive force for allegedly using a Taser on Khalieff Adams after the transfer.

Mr. Adams was also flown because he needed medical assistance after being repeatedly shocked by officers, Jimenez wrote in a motion obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Prosecutors later charged him with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, willful obstruction of law enforcement, possession of marijuana under one ounce and possession of an alcoholic drink by an inmate.

In low-res footage obtained by Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB-TV and NBC affiliate WXIA, a person identified by authorities as Khalieff Adams appears to approach Thug, who is seated, and hand him Something.

Deputies quickly apprehended the inmate and took possession of the contraband, and conducted a search to ensure there was no more contraband, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

According to law enforcement, deputies also found Percocet, marijuana, tobacco and other forms of contraband wrapped in plastic as well as food seasonings on Khalieff Adams after the incident.

A lawyer for Thug insists his client did nothing wrong.

His side is the truth,” Thug’s attorney, Keith Adams, told the WSB. “The reality is that Mr. Williams had nothing to do with what happened in the courtroom yesterday. One of the co-defendants, on his way to the bathroom, attempted to pass something to Mr. Williams, who immediately handed it over to the deputy.

Keith Adams also accused prosecutors of going too far even though Thug was not charged in the alleged smuggling incident.

The states motion is full of factual inaccuracies, embellishments and attempts to hold Mr. Williams accountable for someone else’s actions, he said in a statement provided to the Journal-Constitution. The end result of an investigation into the incident (Wednesdays) was that Mr Williams had committed no wrongdoing.

Prosecutors can still charge Thug over the smuggling allegations, but said a decision would only be made one way or the other after a full investigation into the incident is complete, WSB reported. -TV.

In a statement to the TV station, Khalieff Adams’ lawyer Teombre Calland called for restraint and accused the state of wrongdoing.

On behalf of Mr. Adams, these allegations are just that: mere statements made by the state in an effort to thwart the lengthy jury selection process,” the attorney said. “Mr. Adams categorically maintains his innocence and looks forward to the conclusion of this trial.

Thug and Khalieff Adams have pleaded not guilty to RICO’s allegations against them.

Prosecutors allege Thug is the leader of the so-called YSL gang and is charged with eight violations of Peach State’s RICO statute. Due to the large number of defendants, each with their own lawyer and their own legal interests, the trial is expected to last at least six months and possibly much longer.
