With adoring fans and an established following, there are negative comments too, but Jack Harlow handles it with grace.
During a cover interview with Teen Vogue published Tuesday, the “Industry Baby” rapper opened up about his rise to success and the criticism he faced in the process.
“I’ve been so validated by the world over the past year and I just put it on a pedestal and loved it. To taste the opposite, I think is good for my growth,” said Harlow, 24. years, at the point of sale.

He continued: “It teaches you not to give too much importance to one or the other because the world is fickle. But I am proud to say that my confidence and my thoughts on my trajectory have not not been shaken. It was largely a big surprise to me, after hearing about it. I was able to do a good job of walking away.
Harlow released his second studio album titled Come Home the Kids Miss You on May 6, and although the album was praised by many and included his chart-topping sample of Fergie “First Class”, it was still not stranger to harsh criticism. In a review by Pitchfork, the album was rated 2.9 and described as “among the most vapid and empty statements in recent pop history.”

During the interview, however, he was also asked if he had seen any worthwhile reviews.
“I didn’t see a lot of good points because, you know, most of the noise isn’t eloquently written,” the “Young Harleezy” rapper said. “My music, for me, is definitely getting better. Some of my earlier stuff, since I wasn’t in the position I’m in [now], it was easier to say “Yeah, drag her accessories.” But once up there, it’s a saltier feeling in your mouth. It’s seasonal, I tell you. It’s the fashion.”
Meanwhile, during an interview last month with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he also opened up about the importance of maintaining humility.
“The world is going to turn on me soon,” the “Nail Tech” rapper said. ” ‘Jack Harlow is a nice guy and everyone likes [him].’ ”

“But there’s going to come a point where they’re going to turn on me. I don’t know what it’s going to be, I don’t know why. I’m not trying to manifest it either. But I just inevitably say it’s what’s happening,” he continued. “I see sparks of it like any great artist sees. But all the people who defend me will turn against me. And now I have a good feeling that they are going to turn around.”
He concluded, “I’m starting to realize that humility is just more important than ever right now. Just hold onto that because it’s a long way to go if you follow the hype.”
