National Cheer Groups File Motions in Lawsuit Related to Rockstar Cheer Allegations

GREENVILLE, South Carolina (FOX Carolina) – Court records show that the USA Cheer Sports Federation (USA Cheer) and USA All Star Federation (USASF) recently filed motions to dismiss lawsuits alleging victims had been abused by coaches and organizations linked to the groups.

The first lawsuit, filed in early September, accused Scott Foster, the founder of Rockstar Cheer in Greenville County, of sexually abusing minors and transporting them across state lines for illegal sexual activity. The USASF was named in the lawsuit, saying they knew about the misconduct, but turned a blind eye.

In the petition filed by USASF on January 20, the organization argued that only one of the victims reported abuse to the organization. They added that they had investigated the abuse report alone and that the alleged abusers had been suspended or ruled ineligible. The motion also stated that all of the coaches included in the lawsuit were already on the organizations shortlist and ineligible.

This motion marked the first time the USASF addressed the charges against Rockstar Cheer and Scott Foster. The organization released a statement last year about potential athlete abuse in South Carolina, but never mentioned either side.

USA Cheer has been named in an amended lawsuit against Rockstar Cheer. In their motion to dismiss, filed Jan. 9, they argued that the court lacked jurisdiction over the organization and that the lawsuit did not contain any specific factual allegations related to USA Cheer’s interactions with the victims.
