New details of a sexual assault charge against Dani Alves emerged over the weekend.

The Brazilian player was remanded in custody without bail last Friday following the testimony of a woman who accused him of raping her in the toilets of a well-known nightclub in Barcelona.

Here are some of the revelations.

The victim’s testimony

Before Alves’ arrest, parts of the testimony were already available. The most shocking part said the woman accused the player of touching her under her clothes without her consent, but according to information published by El Peridico, that’s not the worst part.

In the complaint against Alves, the victim says the Brazilian stood behind her and her friends, triggering a series of inappropriate actions: “He disgusted me. He took my hand and placed it on his penis. I took it away.”

Next, Alves took the woman to a private bathroom, where according to the victim, he forced her to perform oral sex, slapped her and then penetrated her.

Alves and the woman were in the room for 15 minutes, where there were no cameras for privacy reasons. She was seen leaving the room in tears. A few minutes later, she also went to the hospital to check her injuries. The medical report is part of the investigation.

The victim does not want compensation

Spanish newspaper El Pas reported on Sunday that sources familiar with the investigation said the 23-year-old woman accusing Alves did not want any economic compensation from the player if found guilty. She only wants justice done with a prison sentence for the Brazilian.

Alves changed his statement at least twice

A member of Alves’ defense team admitted to Globo Esporte in Brazil that the player changed his testimony twice, which was crucial in the decision to keep him in jail.

In his first statement, Alves said he did not know the victim and denied any sexual acts or wrongdoing. Later, the player admitted that he had sex with her, but remarked that it was consensual.

According to Spanish media, there is a third statement in which he says she initiated the intercourse by throwing herself on him. Alves added that he didn’t want to mention it before in order to “protect her”.

Alves arrived at the club last July as one of the highest paid players in Liga MX. How much money he made was unclear until some documents that were part of the sexual assault charge came to light. According to these documents, his salary was more than $330,000 per month and nearly $4 million per year.

Possible jail time

If Alves is found guilty, he could spend a lot of time in prison. Depending on the level of abuse, according to the Spanish legal system, he could face between four and 12 years in prison.
