Slough Town may be slipping away from the National League South relegation zone, but Saturday’s 4-3 win over Dulwich Hamlet was marred by an alleged racist incident from a fan the club investigation.

The comment was made by a supporter to a Dulwich Hamlet player in the second half of Saturday’s win, a result that puts the Rebels five points clear of the bottom four.

Dulwich confirmed the reports on Saturday evening and asked anyone who witnessed the incident to provide information.

They also praised the players and coaching staff for their “immediate and professional” response to the incident and said their priority was the player who had been abused.

In response to the incident, Slough Town issued a statement saying: The club are aware of an alleged racist comment directed at a Dulwich Hamlet player during the second half of today’s National League game South to Arbor Park.

The club is appalled to learn of this incident and we are working closely with Dulwich Hamlet on this matter.

We are investigating this matter and encourage anyone with information that could help identify the individual to report to Slough Town Football Club by emailing [email protected]

Racist and discriminatory behavior is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated at Arbor Park.

The Slough Town Supporters Trust also condemned the incident on Twitter. The band said: This doesn’t reflect Slough Town supporters at all.

We have a reputation for appreciating every player, both home and away. We all sincerely hope that the person is first identified and the problem is thoroughly investigated.

Dulwich’s statement said: The club will pass on the information we have gathered to Slough Town following their own call for information from witnesses and based on our previous relationship and following a conversation with my Slough Town counterpart, we know we can trust them to take a proactive initiative to take the next step.

We are already in contact with Kick It Out and thank them for their advice and support. Our commitment to fight racism and all forms of abuse and discrimination extends beyond Champion Hill Stadium into all aspects of the game and our community.

I would like to thank our own fans who provided valuable information that day and hope that other viewers who witnessed the incident will come forward so that together we can all work to identify, call and ultimately eradicate that from our game.
