Chicago White Sox pitcher Mike Clevinger is under investigation by Major League Baseball after being charged with domestic violence and child abuse, according to The Athletic.
According to Olivia Finstead, who shares a 10-month-old daughter with Clevinger, he allegedly committed multiple offenses of physical, verbal and emotional abuse.
The report is described as in development and details two incidents last June in which Clevinger allegedly choked Finstead, then slapped her and threw chewing tobacco at their child two weeks later.
Finstead said the second incident happened in a hotel room when the Padres (who Clevinger was playing for at the time) were playing the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The 24-year-old shared The Athletics report on her Instagram Story after posting several slides, which include photos of her alleged injuries and more details about the alleged abuse. She also wrote that she had filed a police report against Clevinger.
You really deserve hell Finstead wrote I have been silent for almost a year and you continue to secretly abuse your baby withhold ALL of her property we have none of our stuff still not even her certificate birth or car seat tether. He made sure to do everything he can to stay in control.
In one of the allegations on her Instagram Story, Finstead said Clevinger threw an iPad at her while she was pregnant. She noted that Clevinger had other children with someone else and shared screenshots of the conversation between the mothers, saying they were both victims of his alleged abusive tendencies. Finstead also posted a message from someone who said they knew Clevinger but claimed to have cut ties with him because he was so psychopathic.
Finstead added that she was left homeless alone for 13 weeks after giving birth to their daughter. I really hope you feel immense guilt for what you did to ALL the children and their mothers, including myself, she wrote.

MLB investigating Clevinger
Sources familiar with MLB’s investigative process have confirmed to The Athletic and ESPN that there is an open investigation into Clevinger.
Clevinger was reportedly contacted by investigators last summer while still a member of the San Diego Padres.
The 33-year-old agreed to a one-year, $12 million free agent deal with the White Sox in November and officially signed in December. Both the Athletics source and Finstead were told the team only learned of the allegations after Clevinger was signed.
The investigation would be conducted pursuant to MLB’s Joint Policy on Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse shared by MLB and MLBPA.
“Major League Baseball and the Chicago White Sox take all allegations very seriously,” the team said in a statement. “The White Sox will refrain from commenting until the MLB investigation process is complete.
In the meantime, some fans are calling for Clevinger to be released from the team.
