It’s no secret that Donald Trump and Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell no longer agree with the men who often argue publicly. However, the former president’s latest attacks have hit well below the belt and have been directed at McConnell’s wife, former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, who was in his administration.
After hearing his former boss call him Coco Chow and his China-loving wife McConnell, Chao, who immigrated from Taiwan as a child, decided to speak out about Donald Trump’s racist remarks. When I was young, some people deliberately misspelled or mispronounced my name. Asian Americans have worked hard to change that experience for the next generation, Chao said in a statement to Politico. He doesn’t seem to understand that, which says a lot more about him than it will ever say about Asian Americans.

It was then that Donald Trump’s attacks on her escalated, but she sat quietly because she feels the news cycle is feeding her ego. Chao has had enough and calling out Donald Trump was his plea not just for him to quit, but for the GOP to step up and support the Asian-American community.
