“It’s unpleasant to hear such accusations.”
Developer Day Before Fntastic has denied claims that the game is a scam, saying the long delay was planned even before the trademark dispute.
In an interview with IGN, studio co-founders Eduard and Aisen Gotosev explained the circumstances of the delay: “We planned to move the game’s release earlier and announce it with Mytona in a 10-minute gameplay video. And then you all know what happened. So to be sure, to make sure there are no more transfers, we, together with the publisher, chose November 10th. It’s a safe date, given the trademark dispute,” they explained.

The pair also addressed suspicions that the game is a scam and isn’t actually in development, saying, “We’ve been making the game for four years. All these years have been full of sweat and blood to make this game, for many members of our team it is unpleasant to hear such accusations. We didn’t take a dime from people: no crowdfunding, no pre-orders, no donations. The game is fully funded by Mytona, one of the largest mobile publishers in the world, who have verified the build of the game every step of the way as per our contract.
This statement follows this week’s announcement that the game will be delayed until November following a trademark dispute. According to Fntastic, the trademark was available when the game was announced. However, an individual then filed an application to register the name “The Day Before” in the United States before the developers did.

Although this happened two years ago, Fntastic only became aware of the issue this month. While the developer’s statement seemed to suggest the delay was a result of the dispute, it now appears the two events are unrelated. Anyway, it looks like The Day Before is now set for a November 10 release date.
The Day Before has been somewhat controversial since it emerged that Fntastic was using unpaid volunteers for game development. The studio later clarified that it used the word volunteer as a synonym for full-time employee, to any reason.
The most recent media we saw of The Day Before was a 59-second clip showcasing its NVIDIA DLSS3 support. According to Fntastic, an “extensive gameplay video” will be released once the trademark issue is resolved.
