Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi: I ignore the club’s external criticism, the most important thing is to have the trust of players and fans

Inter manager Simone Inzaghi was defiant in the face of criticism from the club, following the 2-1 win over Cremonese in Serie A tonight.

The Nerazzurri bounced back from a 1-0 loss to Empoli on Monday to secure victory over the league’s bottom club, as they moved past 10-point leaders Napoli, ahead of their Derby del Sole clash with Roma tomorrow.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, and as FCInterNews.it reports, Inzaghi insisted he was unaffected by the criticism from outside the club and that he was confident in maintaining the support of his players and fans.

I have to be honest, I don’t listen much, I talk a lot with my players, with my club. I try to leave what’s going on to the outside world, the former Lazio coach said.

Obviously in a team like Inter we talk about it a lot, when we train Inter it’s normal to receive criticism, after that it’s up to me to understand the criticism that comes from a calm person or the one who is directed by someone else.

I’ve been in football for a long time and I know how it works, the important thing is to have the confidence of the players and those supporters who never fail to support us.

Inter entered the game against Empoli after winning the Supercoppa Italiana against AC Milan with a 3-0 victory in Saudi Arabia, but the celebrations were dampened by the defeat against the Azzurri.

In fact we are sorry because they had dedicated an evening to us against Empoli for the Super Cup and we did not manage to reimburse them, we also spoke about it with the team.

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku returned to Inter on loan last summer but has been disappointed with form and condition issues, and Inzaghi has warned he will still need some time to get back to their best, despite an appearance from substitutes following a recent injury.
