Khamzat Chimaev seems to have once again angered fans. The brash 28-year-old was heavily criticized for his blunder at UFC 279 which saw him lose weight and ultimately forced the UFC to shuffle the card in a one-of-a-kind incident. Now, although it’s not his fault, the fans have attacked the unbeaten Swede once again.
This time around, Chimaev was the subject of scathing comments over a recent clip of him taking it on with a sparring partner. The video which showed him training with a smaller guy was posted on Instagram by popular page MMA Uncensored.

The clip, which also featured the text Khamzat Strong Grappling, saw fans calling out the 28-year-old for having fun with a much lighter partner.

Fans on Instagram slam Chimaev for having fun with a smaller sparring partner
The clip, most likely taken at the Allstars center in Sweden, showed Chimaev and his partner trying to grab each other under the hooks in what looked like a punching session. While there’s not necessarily anything wrong with training with a smaller opponent, fans seemed to blame Chimaev for doing it. Unfortunately, receiving hate on social media has become an integral part of being a successful athlete and Chimaev was no exception. Here are some of the top comments that have mocked the 28-year-old for his actions.
One of the first comments pointed out how the UFC welterweight contender was training with someone who looked like a featherweight.
You mean a middleweight has a strong fight against a featherweight?
The majority of comments were just fans pointing out the massive size difference.
Anyone have a link to him wrestling someone his size?
With a guy half her size.
Why is he still wrestling featherweights?
Pushing someone 35 pounds lighter than him
The dude needs to fight bigger guys.
DIVE DEEPER
One comment referenced UFC 279 and the weight fiasco.
M. can’t make weight! Who is his little brother??
Another person also left a pretty funny reaction.
The Hazmat fireplace takes on my cousin Ezekiel in this video. Zeke is 1-4 in the rural combat league. Great training.
One specific fan surprisingly praised Chimaev for his height and even hoped a fight with Colby Covington would go ahead.

Borz looks great. Hope the Colby fight gets booked soon.
What’s next for Khamzat Chimaev?
Now, as one fan pointed out, a rumored fight with Colby Covington is sure to be something that would rock the MMA world. Even Daniel Cormier had suggested a few names for Borz and Covington was one of the main names proposed by the former Olympian. But given Chimaev’s weight issues at welterweight, it won’t come as a surprise if he’s moved up to 185 pounds. As far as the rumors go, several names have been offered as the 12-0 fighter’s opponent. The Russian born called out middleweight champion Alex Pereira, who he says is clearly a lesser fighter than him.

Chimaev clearly has no shortage of opponents. But it all depends on who is ready to face the 28-year-old. The recent clip clearly shows that he is busy training, smaller opponent or not, it doesn’t matter. Do you agree with Chimaev’s training methods? Let us know in the comments below.
