Craig and Evan should ask some tough questions. Maybe challenge Dolan a bit. Lots of laughs so far.

The hard-hitting Craig Carton to James Dolan:

Is there an act of entertainment that you have never introduced in the garden?

Among other things, it would have been nice to confront Dolan about fans who say they’re either banned or harassed for saying on social media that Dolan should sell.

At the end of the interview, Craig Carton, who will say terrible and untrue things about big and small, tells billionaire James Dolan that he is an “easy target” as he thanks him for the interview.

It didn’t take Carton long to catch wind of Marchand’s reactions. Carton called Marchand a clown and that his claims that they did not ask to ban Madison Square Garden fans from using facial recognition technology were “a barefaced lie”.

“You’re a clown! How about you go listen to the interview before you make a suggestion or an accusation that we didn’t do something we did,” Carton said.

Within minutes, Marchand was on the phone with the show.

“My biggest issue with what you’ve written, and I’m only raising it because I recognize you have a big reach on social media as well – is to say we didn’t confront James Dolan about of the idea that people were kicked out of the building for criticizing its property,” Carton said. “Or that ultimately this facial recognition technology could one day be weaponized by The Garden to ban people who criticize it. How could you write this when we spent 15-20 minutes talking about this specific topic?

“If we ask the question and the guy answers it, and we ask the question four more times and he answers it four more times, we asked and we confronted, interrogated, we demanded answers” , Carton added later. . “You’re suggesting we didn’t even ask the damn question. You know what you have done.

Marchand pushed back, saying Dolan’s appearance was “a funny interview.”

“You didn’t confront him on those things,” Marchand said. “How about a question like why do these fans feel like they got banned for just saying something on social media? They are harassed.

“How would he know why the fans think anything?” Carton replied, “I would have to ask the fan that, right? Right.”

Carton added that he still felt like Marchand had something against him and the success of his show.

“Just acknowledge that you have a program against me. Recognize that,” Carton said.

Marchand disagreed with this idea.

“There is no agenda. I mean it’s ridiculous to say, and sometimes the articles are good, sometimes they’re not,” Marchand said. “I try to be fair and reflect the people I cover.”

Carton later returned to his original argument that he asked Dolan pressing questions.

“You can ask someone a question four, five, six times, you don’t have to be a moron the way you ask the question,” Carton said. “And that doesn’t mean you’re not rushing him. I thought we rushed him, he has an answer. We asked him again, he has an answer.

“I’m not going to make everyone happy all the time anyway,” he added. “We’re not going to try either. But I just don’t think it’s fair when you misrepresent what was asked and what wasn’t asked.
