RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has challenged a police notice issued to him in a case related to allegations against former President Asif Ali Zardari before the High Islamabad Court (IHC).
A day earlier, the former interior minister was asked to appear at Aabpara police station in the capital on Wednesday to explain himself after a complaint was filed against him for allegedly accusing the co-president of the PPP of plotting to assassinate PTI Chairman Imran. Khan.
Police in the capital, in a statement on Tuesday, also claimed that Mr Ahmed had recanted his allegations against the former president. They also warned the senior politician of legal action for defying the summons.
In the latest development, the AML leader has filed a petition against the police notice with the High Court through his lawyers Sardar Razzaq, Naeem Haider and Intazar Hussain. He pleaded with the IHC to declare the notice null and void because it had been published illegally.
Taking to Twitter, Mr Rashid endorsed Imran Khan’s claim that Mr Zardari wanted to kill him, adding: “Imran Khan’s life is in grave danger”. He said that the PDM wanted to remove the leader of the PTI from politics.

He said data from 16 ministries had been scrutinized and the government had resorted to clumsy tactics after failing to find anything against him. He claimed that the police were doing their best to arrest him.
During a media conference outside the IHC, he also criticized the government for the economic crisis in the country. He demanded that the conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the revival of the loan program be made public.
