In a statement on Thursday, Nasser Kanaani dismissed the media story that French special forces seized arms and ammunition supplied by Iran bound for Yemen in the Arabian Sea, saying such allegations are raised. with political motives with the aim of misinforming public opinion in the world.
He added that the countries that brazenly help the coalition of aggressors against Yemen through military transactions or by providing intelligence assistance and that play a role in the inhumane blockade imposed on the Yemeni people are directly culpable and not are unable to bring charges against others.
The spokesperson also advised countries aiding and abetting the aggressors to immediately cease their opportunistic and selfish policies amid the cruel war on Yemen instead of giving disinformation and abdicating responsibility for the war that has imposed on the oppressed and defenseless people of Yemen. .
His comments came after Western media quoted unnamed officials as saying French naval forces on January 15 seized thousands of assault rifles, machine guns and anti-tank missiles in the Gulf of Oman from Houthi forces. from Yemen, claiming that the weapons had come from Iran.
Reports claim that the French warship seized more than 3,000 assault rifles, at least half a million rounds of cartridges and more than 20 anti-tank guided missiles on board the boat.
Saudi Arabia launched a devastating war against Yemen in March 2015 in conjunction with its Arab allies and with military, logistical and political support from the United States and other Western states. Simultaneous with the invasion, the aggressors and their supporters also subjected the entire impoverished country to a total land, air and naval blockade.
The aim was to reinstall the Riyadh-friendly regime of former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and crush the popular Yemeni resistance movement Ansarullah, which runs state affairs in the absence of a functioning government in Yemen.
While the Saudi-led coalition has failed to achieve any of its goals, the war has killed hundreds of thousands of Yemenis and spawned the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
