KUCHING, April 9 The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) is waiting for police to complete their investigation into a woman’s allegation that her baby daughter was injured due to neglect at a day care center ( taska) recently.

His minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said she had been informed that a suspect had also been arrested to assist in investigations into the case and that she would await further action from the police.

“It (the center) is registered. That’s why we could take quick action (against the childcare center), she told a press conference after attending the Kasih ministerial program Ramadan here today.

She was commenting on the woman’s complaint, which has gone viral on social media, alleging that the center neglected her one-month-old baby by leaving the little girl unattended in an isolated room, and who had bite marks from others children.

The KPWKM reportedly issued a warning notice yesterday and ordered the center temporarily closed.

Nancy said her department takes responsibility for ensuring that licensed child care operators adhere to the conditions set out in the Day Nurseries Act 1984 (Act 308) to deal with any cases that arise on the premises.

“In fact, we have already established guidelines for the staff and we are strengthening the conditions to be respected by them (nursery operators). From time to time we will see what still needs to be improved in the situation at the center”, says -She. Bernama
