A 21-year-old influencer has reacted to the backlash she has faced over not having a real job, after celebrating buying her own home.

Katylee Bailey, who has over 2.8 million followers on TikTok, frequently shares videos about self-love messages, her family and friends. In a recent video post on TikTok, she addressed some of the criticism she faces online. Specifically, she discussed the backlash over her music video, where she celebrated being mortgage-free and a homeowner at 21, to speculate on her career.

In the comments, people wondered how working on TikTok could pay off someone’s mortgage and claimed there were other people with real jobs who couldn’t afford their own homes. They also claimed that it was crazy for them that influencers seemed to make a lot of money.

In her response video, Bailey had tears in her eyes as she apologized to her followers and expressed how fucked up it was that locals were struggling to find accommodation.

I’m sorry to anyone who wants to brag about the house, said the British TikTok user. Yes, the system is completely screwed. I will never understand the fact that I was so lucky.

Over the years, research has predicted rising rates of homelessness in the UK. According to data shared by Shelter, a UK homelessness charity, in January there were at least 271,000 homeless people in England on any given night in 2022. The charity also said that he was preparing for a sharp increase in homelessness in 2023.

In her video, Bailey acknowledged that she knew there were people working like crazy. She also pointed out how lucky she was to have a career in social media.

But believe it or not, I actually work, and let me tell you something, social media is so mentally draining, she said.

Bailey explained that while her family gave her an amazing life, she didn’t grow up on money, which is why becoming a landlord meant so much to her.
