Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, Prof. Edward Olanipekun has shed some light on the issue of scholarship disparity at the institution in terms of tuition fees. schooling which would be a difference of one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) between natives and non-natives.
Olanipekun who said the disparity does not live up to the stated speculation It is not correct, it depends on the program, if you are not a native and you have stayed in Ekiti and you are in able to produce a 5-year tax receipt payable to the safe of Ekiti Inland Revenue, you are treated as a native.
Olanipekun added that the institution has taken all measures to limit student unrest on campus. Students at the school had protested last week against the late payment of registration fees, which led to the suspension of academic activities for two weeks, in accordance with directives from the school management.
The student unrest issue is being addressed, we have finalized their return in phases after eidl fitri to take the exam. A tripartite committee made up of student, management and parent representatives would be set up to advise the authority on school fees.
Olanipekun also debunked the allegation that the institution was considering downsizing. It has to do with the fifth columnist having an interest in taking certain positions at the university. They are the ones who a few years ago complained that the university was overcrowded, now they are fabricating lies to suit their desires, there isn’t an iota of truth, it’s just being peddled by a staff desperate to get votes to get to an office, nothing like that, we’re not considering that”.
The Vice Chancellor spoke on Monday while addressing reporters at a press conference held to highlight the activities of the institution’s 27th Convocation Ceremony scheduled between Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th of this month.

For the second time eligible graduates will receive their certificates two days after the ceremony, I am delighted to report that we have almost completed processing all the backlog of transcript requests
According to the VC, some of the planned activities for the convening included a convening lecture titled, The University System in Nigeria and the Issue of Sustainability, which will be delivered on Tuesday, April 18 by the Vice Chancellor of the State University of ‘Osun, in Osogbo.

The Vice Chancellor who disclosed that EKSU is one of the beneficiary institutions of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN facility to set up poultry projects said that the institution is doing a lot in terms of agriculture.
By the grace of God, in the first two weeks we will launch our own project. The first disbursement of N350 million was made by the CBN. The moribund feed factory has been revived and started production, those who have poultry should patronize us, our feed is the best in terms of feed. We will also start large-scale agriculture, one of the things we plan is to export what we produce to encourage foreign trade to our country, Olanipekun said.
