Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes recently lost a big 2022 talent, with wide receiver Montana Lemonious-Craig deciding to enter the transfer gate fresh off of a fantastic performance in an ESPN televised spring game. The Lemonious-Craigs decision turned a lot of heads, with even Colorado football quarterback Shedeur Sanders, also Deion’s son, taking to social media to share the decision.
Some people didn’t take the Sheders’ reaction to the Lemonious-Craigs transfer well, but here’s the Colorado football signalman trying to clear the air.
@Montana_L_Craig my mate in real life. Why would I be mad at him for doing what was best for him. I play live. Always stunning his Instagram comments, Shedeur said via Twitter.
Lemonious-Craig isn’t the only player to leave Colorado football via the transfer portal after the Spring Game, however. ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported that a total of 18 buffalo entered the portal on Monday.
Eighteen Colorado players entered the transfer gate on Monday as part of a post-spring training exodus as new coach Deion Sanders continues to reshape the Buffaloes roster, Rittenberg wrote.
Lemonious-Craig is the most remarkable of them all, however. He led Colorado football in receptions (23) and was second in receiving yards (359) to go with three touchdowns in 2022. Also traded from Colorado, wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, who led the Buffaloes in receiving yards (470) and touchdowns (4) last season.
Lemonious-Craigs’ transfer portal statement follows a fantastic performance in the spring game in which he totaled 168 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
