Kochi: MP Hibi Eden has said that the allegation raised by Society Mayor M Anil Kumar against him is groundless and an act to cover up his governance failure. Kumar had alleged that it was Eden who was behind the deal to gain BJP support for the non-confidence motion proposed by Congress against the chairman of the education standing committee, VA Sreejith of CPM, on Wednesday. The UDF had succeeded in moving the motion of non-confidence. against Sreejith with the support of BJP adviser Padmaja Menon. Eden said Kumar was a complete failure as mayor and made baseless allegations to cover up his incompetence. The deputy also challenged the mayor to prove the allegation regarding the motion of no confidence. He also alleged that Kumar was behind the BJP members who did not participate in the motion of no confidence presented by the Congress against the mayor a few days ago. The absence of BJP members during the council was evidence of the secret agreements between the CPM and the BJP, he said, Eden also alleged that it was suspicious that the company continued the contract with the controversial company Zonta Infratech Ltd. Even the Kannur company had canceled the garbage collection contract with the same company, he added.
