WASHINGTON, DC — Larry Elder is a black conservative talk radio personality who announced just days ago that he was running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024. Shortly after his announcement, he joined Rebecca Weber, CEO of the Association of Mature American Citizens and host of the AMACs Better For America podcast, for an interview.
Why is he throwing his hat in the ring? The popular Larry Elder Show host told Weber that among his reasons is the fact that Democrats like to dip that knife in the mustard pot of racism and spread it on all the issues they can, arguing that the America is systematically racist. And the reason they’re doing this is because they want black people to be mad at alleged social injustice and lack of fairness so that voters walk in there like lemmings and pull that lever 90, 95 % of the time for the Democratic Party… If the Democrats can’t get black people to vote in a monolith like that, they can’t win the presidential election, that’s why they do that all the time.
Plus, he said, he brings to the table something we don’t talk about enough, which is the number one social problem facing America, caused by the large number of children entering the world without a father at home. These days, 40% of all American children are born without a father at home, 70% of black children, 50% of Hispanic children and 25% of white children, which, by the way, is the same percentage than among blacks at the time. 1965. For 65 years, we have launched a so-called war against poverty and have spent more than 20 trillion dollars. What we’ve done is get women to marry the government and get men to let go of financial responsibility. In its most candid moments, a child raised without a father is far more likely to be poor and commit a crime, nine times more likely to drop out of school, and 20 times more likely to end up in jail. We don’t talk about it enough.
Elder, who is running for governor of California in 2021, pointed out that homelessness has reached epidemic proportions in that state. Most homeless people are people who use substances or are mentally ill. The problem is mental health. that is, what do we do about it? We need therapy. We need to have advice available for people and they need to get off the streets. One of the things that happened in California is that citizens with the best of intentions under the guise of judicial reform, it passed something called Proposition 47. What the cops told me and what the former LA county sheriff told me is that the solution is either get them off the streets and put them in rehab or send them to jail.
But, Elder noted, Proposition 47 prohibits this approach, so the police can no longer threaten to put someone in jail and homelessness has increased dramatically. have to leave the street. I was told that every homeless woman has been raped at least once. To say the least, living this way is unhygienic for them and for the people who live in these communities who have to pass by them, including children coming and going from school. It’s a huge, huge problem that we have in our country when it comes to mental illness.
