Racist comments cut FvD MP in debate over police discrimination

Tweede Kamer deputy chairman Roeling Kamminga denied Gideon van Meijeren the floor during a debate after calling out suspects of a violent incident among Negroid primates. The FvD parliamentarian refused to withdraw her speech, which Kamminga found unacceptable, so she cut it off.

Van Meijeren made his statements during a plenary debate on racism and discrimination within the police organization. Van Meijeren referenced an incident in which a swarm of black people assaulted a poor helpless white boy. After Kamminga warned him that such terminology was unnecessary, Van Meijeren spoke of a swarm of Negroid primates.

Other parties did not attack Van Meijeren on the merits, but raised a point of order. The leader of DENK, Farid Azarkan, underlined the rule according to which the debate takes place with respect for the other and for the subject. If you call a group of people primates, it goes way beyond that, he said. If that happens, the MP should take his or her word or be denied the floor, Azarkan said.

VVD MP Ingrid Michon agreed with Azarkan and pointed out that the issue raised by the FvD member was outside the scope of the debate and therefore irrelevant.

Van Meijeren refused to go back on his words and had to leave the podium.

Parliamentarians from the Forum voor Democratie often cause a stir at the Binnenhof. Party leader Thierry Baudet has previously admitted unrest is really his goal.
