Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang on Tuesday warned the EU that pursuing desinization in the name of risk reduction is actually a breach of opportunity, cooperation, stability and development.
Qin was speaking to reporters with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock after their talks in Berlin, saying China appreciated the announcement by Germany and the EU not to seek dissociation from China, but was still concerned about EU allegations of “de-risking.” To answer questions about the notion of “risk reduction” through China-relations diplomacy, a term coined by Germany and the EU, Qin said China does not export its system and pursues a strategy mutually beneficial opening up and win-win results, emphasizing that China will never commit activities such as the sabotage of Nord Stream 2. “Some countries abuse their monopoly power over their currency to impose long-arm jurisdiction and unilateral sanctions. They have also exported their own inflation and financial crisis. These are real risks to pay attention to,” Qin said. Asked about possible EU sanctions against Chinese companies for cooperating with Russia, Qin said China has not sold arms to parties linked to the Ukraine crisis and normal exchanges between China and Russian companies should not be affected. “We are resolutely opposed to certain countries, certain blocs of countries, using their so-called laws to exercise long-arm jurisdiction and unilateral sanctions against other countries, including China. If this happens, the China will react in the necessary way,” Qin said. . Qin noted that the Ukrainian crisis is very complex and cannot be resolved in a simplistic and emotional way, saying the only way out is to remain calm and rational to create conditions for a political solution.
