Jimmie Allen’s management company, The Familie, and booking agency UTA both announced they were suspending work with the country singer-songwriter on Friday (May 12) following a new lawsuit l accusing him of rape, sexual assault and assault.
“Given the nature of the allegations in the lawsuit filed Thursday, The Familie has decided to immediately suspend management activities with Jimmie Allen,” a spokesperson for the management company told Billboard in a statement. The family began working with Allen in 2022, after parting ways with his former management company, Wide Open Music.
We have suspended our representation of Jimmie Allen due to recent allegations against him, which we take seriously,” a UTA spokesperson said in a separate statement.
In a civil lawsuit filed Thursday in federal court in Tennessee, an unnamed Jane Doe accuser said Allen manipulated and used his power over his day-to-day job as a manager to sexually harass and abuse her on a period of 18 months from 2020 to 2022.
The Complainant expressed through words and actions that Jimmie Allens’ conduct was unwelcome, including pushing him away, sitting where he couldn’t reach her, telling him she was unwell comfortable and not, and crying uncontrollably, the woman’s attorneys wrote in the lawsuit. However, Allen made it clear that the plaintiffs’ work hinged on his keeping quiet about his conduct.
Allen denied the allegations in a statement to Billboard, saying: It is deeply disturbing and hurtful that someone whom I counted as one of my closest friends, colleagues and confidants would make allegations that have no truth for them. I admit that we had a sexual relationship that lasted almost two years. During that time, she never accused me of wrongdoing and she spoke about our relationship and our friendship as something she wanted to continue indefinitely.
The artist went on to say that he intends to “mount a vigorous defense of his claims and take all other legal steps necessary to protect my reputation.
Since the report came to light, Allen has also been suspended by his record label, BBR Music Group, which includes halting promotion of his latest radio single, Be Alright, which fell 57-60 on the Billboards Country charts. Airplay dated May 20. was also removed from the artist lineup of CMA Fest, which will be held June 8-11 in downtown Nashville.
The suit follows previous news that Allen and his wife Alexis Gale announced their separation on April 21; around this time, they also shared that Gale was pregnant with their third child.
