Beloved breakfast spot and Denny’s rival closes abruptly as owners blame staffing and inflation ‘crisis’

An ADORED cafe has announced its unexpected closure, noting a business crisis as customers mourn the loss of breakfast.

Despite the love of Acton, Massachusetts residents for As Good As It Gets Cafe, the restaurant announced the immediate closure of its location in the city on Facebook on April 30.

“IT IS WITH HEAVY HEARTS WE HAVE MADE THE DECISION TO IMMEDIATELY CLOSURE OUR ACTON RESTAURANT,” the post read.

After opening two years ago, the Denny’s rival cited staffing and inflation as major issues it has recently come up against.

“The staffing crisis and inflation have taken their toll on our business,” the owners said on Facebook.

“We hope you know that we did everything in our power not to make this decision.”

“We THANK YOU for the support over the past two years,” the post continued.

“We will miss you all. Please visit our Wilmington and Norwood locations if you are in the area.”

The post received more than 50 comments from fans of the cafe and although many said they would miss the restaurant, some also shared their shock at the abrupt closure and sudden notice.

“It was my Sunday spot to end my weekend and get ready for the week,” someone said.

“But I do not respect a company that informs its employees the night before making this decision and also owes its employees 2 weeks salary. Very unprofessional and you should have given them the opportunity to find a job by warning them so that they may have the opportunity to make ends meet.”

Another person said, “I’m so upset you’re closing.”

They added, “My friend and I meet once a month for breakfast at As Good As It Gets. We will truly miss your delicious breakfast.”

The restaurant owners replied, “We appreciate your sponsorship so much and we’re sorry we had to make this unfortunate decision.”

A Facebook user said, “Oh no! That was our favorite place to go!”

Another user added: “Deeply saddened to see this happen. The food, good vibes and sense of community will be missed. Truly another loss for Acton.”

Acton, Mass.’s As Good As It Gets location isn’t Denny’s only rival in the country that has seen its end.

The owners of Hermitage House Smorgasbord in Nashville, Tennessee shared a bittersweet message on social media, breaking the hearts of its regular customers.

Just eight months after Zell’s Cafe in Portland received new management, it closed this month after 40 years in business.
