Kelly Clarkson Responds to Toxicity Allegations Backstage on Her Talk Show

Kelly Clarkson has highlighted her dedication to fostering a positive work environment following allegations that working on her eponymous talk show can be toxic and traumatic.

In my 20 years in the entertainment industry, I have always led with my heart and what I believe is right, she wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday. I love my crew on the Kelly Clarkson Show, and finding out that someone feels ignored and disrespected on this show is unacceptable.

The former American Idol champion, whose talk show is set to move to New York for its next season, added that Shell is using the move to the East Coast as an opportunity to ensure our team who is moving but also our new team in New York is made up of some of the best and nicest people in the business.

Clarkson also promised that she and her senior staff would undergo training to ensure a safe work environment.

There is always room to grow and make sure we are all/become the best version of ourselves in any company, especially when it comes to leadership to make sure any notion of toxicity is eradicated, she concluded.

Clarksons’ comments come after a current employee and 10 former employees alleged they had been overworked and underpaid during their time on the show. None of the complaints were directed at the talk show host, who they called fantastic.

I’d be stunned if she knew staff weren’t being paid for a two-week Christmas break, an employee told Rolling Stone. The Kelly I’ve interacted with who everyone knows would probably be quite appalled to learn this.

Another worker recalled going up to the roof of the stage to cry, saying, Oh, my God, what am I doing? Why am I doing this to myself?

Others specifically blamed the shows’ main and executive producers, in particular showrunner Alex Duda, a Steve Harvey and The Tyra Banks Show alum.
