Informing track fans that Britton set a record by finishing her 400m race in 49.13 seconds at the SEC Outdoor Championships, World Athletics congratulated her. The caption on that Twitter post read, Wilson has run under 50 in all three of her outdoor races this year and at 22 she is already faster than @allysonfelix. This post drew criticism from fans who considered it a hateful post and said there was no need to mention Felix. Fans also defended Felix who had won 11 gold medals at the Olympics for his performance in the track events.

Responding to the harsh comments from fans on this post, Johnson reacted, I am surprised by the criticism of this tweet. Allyson’s greatness makes her a standard by which others are now judged. It is a compliment.

It’s not the only time Johnson has given his candid opinion on track athletes. Earlier, he also reacted to the interesting and phenomenal statistics of the Jamaican and American athletes. Interestingly, Jamaican athletes had better stats than American athletes according to this list.
