Not all players are responsible for Mozzart Bet Cup loss

[ad_1]

I disagree with part of the fans who blame the entire AFC Leopards team after the team lost to Kakamega Homeboyz in Mozzart Bet Cup semi-finals.

The truth is that stupid individual errors in defense caused the 2-1 loss in the match played at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday. The goalkeeper, too, failed to coordinate the defenders on several occasions. Generally, the defense was full of clumsiness!

But we’ll live to fight another day! We have to congratulate Homeboyz on the win and wish them well in their next match against Tusker on June 1 as they battle to represent Kenya in continental football for the first time.

For the fans and members of Ingwe, the weekend must not deflate our spirit and our will to support and turn the club around.

Sign players

We have to understand that while serving Fifa bans, AFC Leopards had financial shortcomings, but after settling with world football’s governing body, we are now free to sign players from next month. and strengthen the team.

It’s up to the club’s management to find the right players and put in place the right structures so that the Leopards return to their place.

The Leopards would have won the league this season if the players we signed had been cleared by the Football Kenya Federation to play.

The weekend loss left many die-hard Ingwe fans disappointed as the Leopards last represented Kenya in 2017 when they took part in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Fans will agree that along the way, the team has lost or drawn some very winnable matches mostly due to lack of depth, as the team has only 17 players, while our opponents have at least 30.

Truth be told, the youngsters didn’t disappoint after being hastily promoted from the junior squad in 2021 after losing nearly 20 regulars before the season kicked off.

Our coach Patrick Aussems should be hailed for building a young team from the ground up. When not everyone wanted to associate themselves with Ingwe, Aussems was at the side of the team during very difficult times. The coach must be appreciated. We all have to agree that we largely survived thanks to a makeshift team.
