There appears to be no end to the verbal duel between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his predecessor Charanjit Channi, over allegations of a relative of the latter seeking a bribe of Rs 2 crore to provide a employment to a budding athlete.

CM Mann warned Channi on Thursday, saying he was giving him until 2 p.m. on May 31 to release all information about his nephew seeking a bribe from a sportsman instead of a job at the government.

If you don’t by May 31, 2pm I will post your nephew’s photo and name and sportsman’s meeting place with your nephew in Punjabis, he said in a tweet.

The challenge to Channi follows the recent assertion he made to Chamkaur Sahib that the allegations against him were baseless. He had said on Tuesday that none of his relatives had ever asked for a bribe to provide jobs. They wanted to lock him up in a frivolous affair, Channi alleged.

Mann had claimed at a public event at Dirba in Sangrur on Monday that while visiting Dharamsala to watch a cricket match, a player came to see him and told him that he had approached Channi for a job in the framework of the sports quota. The cricketer was asked to meet Channis’ nephew, who demanded Rs 2 crore from the sportsman, he had alleged.

At a reception in Chandigarh on Tuesday, Mann again raised the allegations saying the cricketer would soon be introduced to the public.
