A Labor Party (LP) leader, Pat Utomi, has reacted to an allegation that President-elect Bola Tinubu asked him to resign for Peter Obi, the party’s flag bearer, in the run-up to the February 25 election. .

Utomi, while reacting to a statement attributed to LP Oyo State gubernatorial candidate Tawfiq Akinwale on Thursday, May 25, said the truth would soon prevail.

Recall that Akinwale on Wednesday May 24 said that the Tinubu had financed Obi’s presidential campaign ahead of the February 25 election.

He also noted that the former Governor of Lagos State asked Utomi, whom he described as “the son of Tinubu”, to stand down for Obi ahead of the 2023 general election.

Akinwale said that in the run-up to the 2023 general election, Obi, who had bought the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) nomination form, suddenly announced his exit from the party.

Initially, Pat Utomi got the LP presidential ticket, but when Peter Obi announced his resignation from the PDP and joined LP, Tinubu quickly told Utomi to stand down for Obi.

The president-elect saw in the presidential candidacy of Obis, a good chance to reduce the chances of victory of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

What Peter Obi did not know is much more than he knows.

He started collecting campaign funds from Utomi, while Tinubu gave the money to Utomi.

This lasted until Obis’ presidential campaign reached a stage where it overshot the target.

Obi was used without his knowledge, he added.

However, Utomi, while reacting to the allegation on Thursday, said that as I watch the desperation with which past acts strewn with love for the common good are unearthed and folded into misinformation regarding the present, I am grateful that the truth is the only thing that prevails when the thirst for power is consumed by its own negativity.

So I will ignore and avoid exchanging words with anyone, but the truth will soon prevail.
