COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) A Columbus police officer has been charged with a felony following an out-of-state incident.

Adam Nguyen, 26, is accused of taking an upskirt video of an underage girl at an anime convention in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont on Sunday.

ABC 6 first reported this week that Nguyen had been placed on administrative leave as part of an investigation.

On Friday, ABC 6 learned more about Nguyen’s case, including the formal charge of unauthorized videotaping and live video transmission against him.

“Upon presenting the evidence, Nguyen admitted to recording the victim without his knowledge or consent,” his arrest report said. “He said he had a problem and was caught secretly recording videos of women in skirts elsewhere on a previous date. When he had already been arrested, he was not charged. criminally provided that he deletes the videos.”

The report also states that a friend of the alleged victim saw Nguyen carrying a bag with a video camera lens protruding from a hole in a bag, which Nguyen was carrying like a suitcase. This friend added that the camera was lowered and pointed “in a position that went directly under the skirt” of the alleged victim.

A CPD spokesperson confirmed to ABC 6 on Wednesday that Nguyen is a two-year veteran of the department.

Also on Wednesday, ABC 6 requested Nguyen’s personnel file and is still awaiting its receipt.
