Kharge, who is rural development minister for Karnataka and Panchayat Raj, said a thorough investigation would be carried out and the culprits would be convicted.

“@CMofKarnataka orders an investigation into the mismanagement of KKRDB funds. Crores has been hijacked to fulfill the BJP’s hidden agenda and for his own MPs. As promised earlier, a thorough investigation will be conducted and the culprits will be convicted,” Priyank Kharge, who is son of Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, said in a tweet.

Congress leaders previously alleged that some BJP leaders in Karnataka were “hand in hand” with contractors and “embezzled public funds” paid to KKRDB.

Corruption was a key campaign issue in Karnataka’s elections held earlier this month, with the BJP and Congress making allegations against each other.
