Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, addressing an Indian diaspora gathering in New York, said Congress did not blame the British for train crashes during his rule, but the minister did assumed responsibility. “BJP and RSS are incapable of looking forward. Whatever you ask them, they will look back. If you ask the government why the train crash happened, they will say Congress did it. 50 years ago. Why did you remove evolution and the periodic table from the textbook? They would say Congress did it 60 years ago. Their immediate response is “peeche dekho”.
Rahul Gandhi spoke about Odisha train crash, recent NCERT program change while addressing Indian Diaspora in New York. }}
The attack comes as a massive three-train collision at Odisha’s Balasore killed around 270 people and injured hundreds more – in one of the deadliest train crashes since independence. While the signaling error – which likely caused the Coromandel Express to jump onto a freight train and then crash into another oncoming passenger train – raised several questions, Rahul Gandhi commented on the global platform as he did not fail to address the recent problem of the periodic table and evolution removed from textbooks.
“Modi drives a car with a rear view mirror”
“Now think about it. You all came here using your cars. Imagine if the only thing you did was look at your rearview mirror. Could you drive your car? You would have one accident after another. That’s the phenomenon of Narendra Modi ji. He tries to drive the Indian car and he only looks at the rear view mirror. And he does not understand why the car crashes, does not move forward. It is the same with the BJP and the RSS. You listen to them, their ministers. You will never find them talking about the future; they always talk about the past and they will always blame someone for the past,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Referring to the issue of train accidents, Rahul Gandhi said: “I remember a train accident when the Congress Party was in power. The Congress Party did not stand up and say that it is the fault of the brits if the train crashed no the congress minister i remember said it was my fault the train crashed i am resigning so that is the problem we have in our homes, that we find excuses and that we do not accept the reality that we face.
‘Fight between Mahatma Gandhi and Godse’
Talking about the ideological fight between Congress and BJP-RSS, Rahul Gandhi said it was like the fight between Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse. “On one side you have Mahatma Gandhi and on the other you have Nathuram Godse. That’s the most accurate way to describe the fight. On one side a strong NRI like you and on the other side, Nathuram Godse – violent, angry, unable to face the reality of his own life. The reason he shot Gandhi was that he couldn’t face his own life. So he had to take his anger on someone—he chose to take it on the essence of India. Gandhiji was forward-looking, modern, open-minded. Godse only spoke of the past, he never spoke of the future. He was angry, hateful and frankly he was scared. Deep down he was a coward. He was unable to face his lie. On the other hand, Gandhi faced the greatest force of the planet, the superpower, more powerful than the United States is today,” said Rahul Gandhi.
