Kevin Durant has always been known to engage with fans and critics on Twitter, and the Phoenix Suns star was back on Saturday after trolls dragged his name while discussing the disaster that befell the Brooklyn Nets.
It all started when some critics accused Durant of stopping the Nets from re-signing Bruce Brown. With Brown serving as a hero for the Denver Nuggets in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, many couldn’t help but reflect on his departure from Brooklyn.
Brown said last May that he thought the Nets wanted him back, but other forces kept them from re-signing him. Many were quick to claim Durant was the culprit given his influence on the team. After which, Twitter trolls began hurling further accusations and criticisms at Durant, including his consistent refusal to take responsibility for what happened to the Nets.
One commenter said: The fact that you’re here on the defensive about how a bullet was shot in Brooklyn and claiming that [yo]You didn’t just get a good coach fired, that’s a major red flag. You have the conscience of a hairbrush (if [yo]you even know what it is).
Durant responded to the statement by saying: It will always be easier to just #blamekd.
Another detractor said the only time he spoke publicly was through his yes, Rich, and that was Nash and Marks’ ultimatum. Never made the decision to stand up publicly and pull out his cards. He, Kai and Harden have all failed and no one will ever recognize that. Honestly glad it’s over. Durant called it narrative fan fiction.
Kevin Durant also pointed out that he’s in a lose/lose situation in your eyes no matter what I do in response to another hater slamming his consistent stance that he doesn’t get involved in front office decisions and that he’s just a hooper.
The criticism is unlikely to end any time soon for Durant, but with plenty of time on his hands, it’s likely he’ll continue to fight back in defense of his name. You do, KD.
