Amy Duggar shares her unfiltered opinions on her family! Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s niece has called out reality TV stars for reacting badly to new docuseries about the clan’s dark secrets.
The Duggars rose to fame as the center of the canceled TLC series “19 Kids and Counting.” The program followed the ultra-conservative beliefs of the big family, which encouraged modesty and a firm adherence to their IBLP teachings.
An Amazon Prime Video documentary recently revealed the workings of the TV clan’s past, including the sexual abuse scandal of eldest son Josh Duggar. However, the disgraced man’s parents were not happy with the public airing of their dirty laundry.
Amy Duggar calls out Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar for their ‘narcissistic’ response to explosive MEGA docuseries
In a recent chat, the 36-year-old responded to her loved ones’ response to the four-episode documentary “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets.” The program explored the lives of former TLC stars as members of the controversial Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP).
After the show’s debut, the leaders of the Duggar clan talked about the Prime Video content on their website. The couple expressed their dissatisfaction with the docuseries, noting that their issues should be resolved privately.
“The recent ‘documentary’ about our family is sad because we see the media and those with bad intentions hurting the people we love,” the couple’s joint statement began. “Like other families, ours too has experienced the joys and heartbreaks of life, just in a very public format.”
According to the Lovebirds, the “Shiny Happy People” program painted various people and situations in a “disparaging and sensationalized manner” for entertainment. Despite their distaste for the show, the Duggar patriarch and matriarch noted that they loved their family.
“We have always believed that the best chance of repairing damaged relationships or reconciling differences is through love in a private setting,” their statement continued. “We love every member of the family and will continue to do everything we can to have a good relationship with everyone.”
Concluding their post with a strong show of faith, the couple wrote: “Through triumphs and trials, we have clung all the more to our faith and discovered that through the love and grace of Jesus , we find strength, comfort and purpose.”
Following their impassioned remarks on the tell-all documentary, Amy slammed the dynamic duo for not admitting guilt. “I feel like this is the time they could have said, like, we made mistakes, right? I mean, it’s for the whole world to see,” the 36-year-old told ET Canada.

The mother-of-one thought the spouses could have used the opportunity to be ‘humble’ instead of showing no remorse and refusing to acknowledge the survivors. The Arkansas native accused the couple of living “with their heads in the clouds.”
Amy said the couple “didn’t think about people who are hurting and have been through hell, including their daughters”. The media personality lamented, “It’s just too bad. And for me, it’s gaslighting. It’s just completely selfish about it.
Jill Duggar revealed that it was difficult to participate in the documentary about her family
Weeks before Jim Bob and Michelle responded to the “Shiny Happy People” docuseries, Jill Duggar admitted she was hesitant before sharing her story in the Prime Video docu-series. In a clip from the tell-all show, the blonde beauty sat down with her husband, Derick Dillard, to discuss his family’s “sectarian” religion.
The Arkansas native said it’s hard to talk about her experience with disgraced pastor Bill Gothard’s IBLP foundation. “Yeah, I mean, interviewing that’s not easy, and I didn’t want to do it,” the entertainer said nervously.
“There are a lot of them there. Do I want to open this Pandora’s box? the mother-of-three continued. Although she was considering going on the show, the ‘Counting On’ star shared her story, including her brother’s sexual abuse scandal.
In 2015, the Duggars announced that Josh was guilty of inappropriately touching four of his sisters and a babysitter during his teenage years. Victims among his siblings included Jill and Jessa.

Reflecting on the traumatic experience, the 32-year-old confessed: “It’s just hard to get through. There are many families who are in a similar situation. But it was very different, in the sense that my family was on TV.
