The Golden State Warriors made moves and traded for Chris Paul, which could create some tension in the locker room.
That’s because Draymond Green and Chris Paul are far from best friends, and the former could stay at Golden State if he re-signs.
Here’s what Draymond Green said about Chris Paul
NBA fans featured an old clip of Green speaking on the All The Smoke podcast in 2020, in which he explains why he doesn’t like Paul, highlighting how the point guard treated Steph Curry during the double ascent of the MVP.
“I don’t like CP at all, we don’t have a good relationship at all, but I respect his restlessness and I respect his IQ,” Green said.
“He’s smart as hell. CP has seen stuff happen.
“Once you start to get old in this league, you start realizing ‘Okay, this guy is coming and he might catch me because I’m going to start to decline at some point.’
“I would see CP keeping Steph at bay, but fucking giving him a stiff arm at the same time.
“Steph is Steph and we all love Steph. He doesn’t have the street side.
“So for me, coming from where I grew up, I took it upon myself to try to create a f**king division there.”
Can Draymond Green and Chris Paul work together?
Despite those comments, there’s hope the two veterans can work together at Golden State.
It seems Green’s beef with Paul was more about his physical treatment of Curry, but now that they’re all on the same team, that shouldn’t be a problem.
