Screenwriter and novelist Daisy Goodwin has responded to hopeful Conservative London Mayor Daniel Korski’s outright denials of his claims that he patted her chest after a meeting in Downing Street.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4s Today after making a formal complaint on Tuesday night, without which the Conservative Party had refused to investigate, Ms Goodwin said: I could say: he would say that, wouldn’t he?

If he had come forward and said, oh, I’m so sorry, something like that, I might have inadvertently touched her, that would be another story. But the fact that he categorically denies it is, to me, bizarre.

In an extraordinary development, Mr Korski told TalkTV he informed Tory bosses of the allegations during the mayoral race vetting process, long before they came to light on Monday. Ms Goodwin went public with the incident in 2017, but at the time did not name former Prime Minister David Cameron’s former aide.

A campaign spokesperson said Wednesday: In the strongest possible terms, Dan categorically denies any allegations of inappropriate behavior. He welcomes any inquiry and will cooperate fully.

Asked by Martha Kearney on BBC Radio 4 if there could be any ambiguity about the 10-year claim, Daisy Goodwin said: I’m really surprised you asked me that, Martha.

Yes it happened to me 10 years ago, but when something like this happens to you, you know it happened to you because you were there, you felt it. You felt amazed, shocked and rather humiliated. To ask me if I am certain is to ask myself if I am making it up. This is not the case.

While Ms Kearney replied that the reason for her question was due to Mr Korski’s outright denials, Ms Goodwin added: Well, I could say: he would say that, wouldn’t he?

If he had come forward and said, oh, I’m so sorry, something like that, I might have inadvertently touched her, that would be another story. But the fact that he categorically denies it is, to me, bizarre.

Daisy Goodwin has now responded to hopeful Conservative London Mayor Daniel Korski’s categorical denials of his claims he groped her chest after a meeting in Downing Street a decade ago.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4s Today after making a formal complaint on Tuesday night, without which the Conservative Party initially refused to investigate, Ms Goodwin said: I could say: he would say that, wouldn’t he?

If he had come forward and said, oh, I’m so sorry, something like that, I might have inadvertently touched her, that would be another story. But the fact that he categorically denies it is, to me, bizarre.

Ms. Goodwin added: That’s what tends to happen in these situations. I think people have to decide who they choose to believe. There is no reason for me to say this happened to me 10 years ago. I was shocked. I can’t say I’m a victim, but I was shocked.

1687943211Daniel Korski says Conservative party officials knew about allegations

In an extraordinary development last night, Daniel Korski claimed Tory party leaders knew about the allegations, which he denies, long before they were revealed by Daisy Goodwin in The Times on Monday.

Mr Korski told TalkTV he disclosed them during the mayoral race vetting process after he was asked if there were any outstanding issues the party should be aware of.

And I told the party seven years ago there was a story. I was never named in the story. To my knowledge, there has been no investigation. But I spoke to the party about it, he said.

Mr Korski insisted he was still a candidate to become the Conservative candidate for mayor, adding: All I can say is that she is wrong.
