Lakewood Colorado woman sparks backlash for racist rant against Latino family in viral video

A Lakewood, Colorado woman has gone viral after a video of her swearing at a Latino family circulated on social media platforms like Twitter. On July 5, a netizen, with the handle @Tim_Tweeted, posted a video on Twitter, after @jadeseries uploaded the video to TikTok for the first time.

In the video, a woman can be seen yelling at a group spending family time at a swimming pool in Lakewood, Colorado, and complaining about the size of the group. After watching the video, social media users immediately identified the woman as “Karen”, also calling her “racist”. The woman, however, has yet to be identified.

The whole incident has resulted in social media users criticizing and condemning her for her actions and words, with one user commenting that she shouldn’t have the “nervous call someone trash” considering his inappropriate and insensitive outburst.

The video of the Lakewood woman was shot by a man, who appeared to accidentally walk into the woman when her rants began, capturing the entire incident. Meanwhile, the group in question was hosting a family pool party, according to the Twitter user who uploaded the footage to the social networking platform. In the viral 56-second clip, the woman can be seen saying:

“Yeah, that’s right. You’re having a fucking Mexican pool party. Trash.”

Soon, she began to justify her actions and words, claiming that she lived in the apartment, which gave her the power to judge the actions of others. When people approached her to ask about the incident, she also insulted them. However, as soon as she realized she was being taped, she said:

“You can’t do that. You can’t just tape me.”

The “Karen” quickly snatched the phone from the hand of the person filming the video. Apparently, soon after, cops showed up and took her away.

Needless to say, the clip got a lot of backlash from Twitter users.

The incident in Lakewood, Colorado is not the first time that different ethnic groups of color and race have faced racism. During a congressional hearing last week, Senator John Kennedy supported military intervention in Mexico against drug cartels, making an offensive statement about the country:

“Without the American people, Mexico would figuratively eat canned cat food and live in a tent.”

This prompted Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard to call Kennedy a racist.

This attitude is not limited to politics alone and extends to other avenues as well. In fact, in sports too, people have been targeted with similar racist insults and comments. Recently, during Real Madrid’s 1-0 loss to Valencia at the Mestalla stadium in the Spanish La Liga, Brazilian striker Vincius Jr. was exposed to racist comments from fans of the opposing team.
