The Rajasthan Royals have shared a video of a sentimental and determined Riyan Parag speaking out against his critics and trolls. The versatile Assam has struggled in the IPL but is still a talented young player. Apart from the exorbitant potential he carries, Parag also possesses the quality to hold his own against the constant criticism he receives from fans and pundits on social media.

RR’s Twitter account shared a video with the caption: Trolled and tested but harder than ever. This is Riyan Parag: raw and real. The video opens with cricket analyst and pundit Joy Bhattacharjya digging in Parag, saying Rajasthan played with five bowlers, five batters and Parag.
Parag then speaks to the camera about his thoughts on the criticism he’s been receiving. People pay their hard-earned money to come see us play, not to play. We don’t play, they hate it, I get it.
The 21-year-old versatile player said former cricketers and commentators should text him personally instead of posting on social media.
But verified accounts, ex-cricketers, commentators, when they post about it on social media when they take the time to tweet about me, you can just text me. Honestly I would love that because if someone can just DM me and say Hey I know that’s how you play cricket but if you do that you might have a better chance of performing , said the all-rounder from Assam.

Parag hasn’t had the best start to his IPL career since his debut in 2019. However, he showed flashes of his genius which is why RR has faith in him. But the right-handed hitter, who also spins his legs at hand, has not been spared online, where his outspoken and outgoing nature has made him an easy target for trolls.

Parag has opened up on the struggles of being dropped this IPL season, in which he has played just 7 games. There were two games I was really looking forward to this year, one was Mumbai and the other was RCB, and I didn’t play both, Parag said. He was replaced by Dhruv Jurel in the RR lineup, and the UP wicketkeeper seized the opportunity with both hands scoring at a strike rate of over 170.
Everything was settled, I was completely ready, I was preparing very hard before the match. I was very very disappointed not to go to Bangalore, because it’s a team I love to play against. I admire Virat so much and sharing the pitch with him is obviously very important to me. Beating them is a joy for me. But then you have to go back to the hotel, look in the mirror and say, I was left out, Parag said.

Parag holds the record for the youngest player to score in a half-century in the IPL. He hasn’t been used by RR this tournament with the ball, but he has spoken of the influence and help he receives from team-mate R Ashwin. He was also unapologetic about his outgoing nature on social media, saying it was about his life and not his cricket, and while people might not understand him, he doesn’t regret it. .
The Assamese player, who was part of India’s U-19 World Cup-winning squad in 2018, was always optimistic about his ambitions. My target right now is to get called up to the India A team, he said. In his current form, Parag will be aware that he needs to do more, but he has time on his side and the continued faith of the RR team behind him. After a few lackluster seasons, he will want to mark the landscape of cricket in the near future.
