Delhi Revenue Secretary and Divisional Commissioner Ashwani Kumar on Saturday refuted allegations made against him by Revenue Minister Atishi of willfully ignoring his calls and messages and said he was ready to shoulder his responsibilities and that he would not blame anyone. Kumar also claimed to have spoken to Revenue Minister Atishi and accused her of wanting to play politics.
Earlier, a letter to the chief secretary issued by the revenue minister’s office alleged that the minister tried to get in touch with Divisional Commissioner Kumar, but he did not return his calls or respond to his messages. “It’s very unfortunate to bring an accusation during such a period. I had a word with Atishi Ji. I spoke to him yesterday. It shows that they may want to play politics. If you say, I I’m responsible, so I’m ready Unlike others, I won’t blame anyone, the division commissioner said during a press conference at the NDMC Convention Center here on Saturday.
“We have to understand to know which wing can do what kind of work. If someone doesn’t know the basics, then how can the job be done? Which agency has what capacity, I briefed the Minister, added the IAS officer. “This job is not just the job of one department. We must rise to the challenges. Throwing allegations at each other is not good and I am unable to understand why they are making a mole of the mountain. These allegations are intended to distract from the work,” he added.
Earlier, Delhi Flood Control Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also wrote a letter to LG demanding action against three bureaucrats for not following instructions from two ministers to call NDRF and Engineering Regiment of the army at night to repair the WHO building regulator. “The officers ignored the instructions causing flooding in the VIP areas of Delhi including the Supreme Court of India. The flooding could have been avoided if the ministers instructions had been followed and the army/NDRF had been called the night before. It was a conspiracy against Supreme Court,” Saurabh Bhardwaj wrote in his letter.
Reacting further to the Revenue Minister, Atishi’s allegations that the Haryana government deliberately discharged water from the Hathini Kund dam to Delhi, Ashwini Kumar said, “The water discharged from the Hathnikund dam is normal. Detailing the ongoing rescue and restoration work to bring the situation back to normal, Ashwani Kumar said: “We have 44 camps in Delhi, and around 50% of the camp layouts are in buildings. We want others to move to the buildings as well because chances are it will rain and it won’t work. But we face some resistance.”
So far, we have evacuated a total of 25,478 people and today we have 18 NDRF teams. These NDRF teams rescued 1,500 people and evacuated about 4,000 people and in parallel they also evacuated 550 cattle,” he said. “27 ambulances have been deployed and 23 ambulances are on duty. All our field agents work day and night. The district administration, police, PWD and other departments worked together. Wherever there is room for improvement, we are on our toes to ensure we are up to the challenge, he stressed.
Kumar also said the relief camp was facing shortage of toilets as most of them were used for Kanwar Yatris and said they are trying to make things better for everyone. (ANI)
