The Independent Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has denied the allegation of extortion made against the tanker drivers.
IPMAN, in a statement signed by its national secretary, John Kekeocha, called the allegation false.
Recall that a factional arm of the Association had accused the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) of imposing an illegal levy on their members.
He alleged that the PTD engaged in an act of sabotage on the distribution of PMS by levying N23,000 IPMAN members for each truck loaded at the depot.
But in its reactions, the National Executive Committee of (lPMAN) led by Alhaji Debo Ahmed said the allegation does not hold water as no such money is being paid as alleged.
In view of this, IPMAN urged its members to drop any call for strikes, pointing out that management has always frowned on practices and acute illegalities.
In the meantime, the Association has urged the Federal Government (FG) to grant it a license to import petroleum products.
