NASCAR’s latest visit to New Hampshire Motor Speedway saw Front Row Motorsports driver Michael McDowell close in on Ryan Preece on the track.

Rain delayed the Crayon 301 on the mile-long oval track in Loudon, New Hampshire, which saw some great racing among the competitors. There were also a few slip-ups along the way, as usual.

The 301-mile event saw several restarts with three- and four-wide cars battling for position. In what was a run well received by analysts and fans alike for the action it produced on the track, there were bound to be some close calls.

Michael McDowell became one of the drivers to make contact on Monday. The driver of the #34 Ford Mustang attempted to move Stewart-Haas Racing’s Ryan Preece.

After Preece managed to pass McDowell on one of the frantic restarts, Michael McDowell attempted to get under the former to pass him. However, the move resulted in contact between the pilots, which sent Ryan Preece into the outer wall of the ‘Magic Mile’.

The Front Row Motorsports driver took full responsibility for the incident after the race and explained to NBC Sports’ Dustin Long in an interview:

“He has every right to be angry. He pulled a slider at me in (turns) 3 and 4 and slid and I came back under him. When I rolled all the way down on the flat, I just didn’t have a good backsliding and I got loose and went up and hit him, put him in the wall.” “It’s all my fault, I understand why he’s upset.”

Michael McDowell eventually managed to finish in P13 while Ryan Preece finished the Crayon 301 in P28.
