World record holder Tobi Amusan has been charged with a doping violation by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), casting doubt on her participation in next month’s world championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The Nigerian super star athlete set the current world record for the women’s 100m hurdles in 12.12 seconds at last year’s World Championships in Athletics.
Today the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) charged me with an alleged rule violation for missing 3 tests in 12 months, they said in an Instagram post.

Amusan, in posting to her Instagram page on Wednesday morning, however, promised to resolve the charges against her ahead of this year’s contest, which is due to be held next month in Budapest.
“I intend to fight this accusation and will have my case decided by a tribunal of 3 referees before the start of the next world championships: I am a CLEAN ATHLETE and I am one regularly; (maybe more than usual) tested by IAU. I was tested a few days after my third failed test. I have FAITH that this will be resolved in my favor and I will compete at the World Championships in August,” she added.
As Amusan prepares for the battle to clear her name of any non-doping violation, she has asked that her privacy be respected by the media.
In the meantime, I ask the media to respect my privacy as I respond to these allegations in the upcoming arbitration, Amusan concluded.
Many are looking forward to seeing Amusan clear her name so she can successfully defend the world title she won in 2022 in Oregon.
The world record holder, who appears to have overcome her slow start to the season, has won three consecutive races of late.
