Lil Uzi Vert praised Lil Yachty in a recent behind-the-scenes clip, giving the Polish rapper his props for what they called beating[ing] the allegations washed away.

The video was shared by Akademiks on Thursday, July 20, before a full interview between the two was released. In the clip, Uzi tells the media personality that Yachty has been in the game for a minute and the fact that he’s still there is testament to the fact that he beat said allegations.

Like you gotta figure out how long [Lil Yachty] been around? Uzi told Ak in the clip. When Ak told them that Yachty had been there for a long time, Uzi said, That’s what I’m trying to tell you and he’s not even going anywhere. He’s definitely a nigga that beat the allegations washed. He beat shit on his own wave.

Lil Yachty debuted on SoundCloud in 2015 with his viral hit One Night. The track lived on his debut Lil Boat mixtape, which arrived a few months later in March 2016. Fueled by other viral hits like Cold in Minnesota, Yachty exploded and had a strong buzz for a time, but became a somewhat smaller force on the music scene in the following years and failed to maintain the same reaction to his debut studio album and subsequent projects.

However, he managed to maintain a presence in the industry through his own music and writing hits for others, including the City Girls. He then reinvented his sound with the critically acclaimed 2023 Let’s Start Here, which debuted and peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200. Position beat his last two albums, which peaked at No. 12 and No. 14, respectively.

As for Lil Uzi Vert, they didn’t always praise Lil Yachty and even called him out once publicly on Twitter.

In 2020, Uzi randomly pulled an angry face emoji on Lil Boat, followed by: wya you know what you did in 2018, to which Yachty replied: What am I doing?

Uzi pleased him with an answer but only wrote JT, apparently insinuating that some kind of problem happened between Uzis City Girls boo and Yachty.

In response, Yachty shared a GIF of a man holding his phone and surrounded by several of his friends saying, Aye yall come watch this. Although Uzi retweeted the GIF, he quickly deleted his first tweets.
