Pokemon Go players are expressing their displeasure with Niantic, the game’s developer, over the implementation of the new Routes feature. Dissatisfaction surfaced shortly after release when players found they couldn’t create routes, despite being required for in-game objectives.
In addition to this initial issue, players have also expressed frustration with the lengthy route approval process. Niantic responded to this concern by providing an update on the duration of the approval process. However, trainers remain unhappy with the situation.
The introduction of itineraries led to further complications. Some Pokemon Go users have reported that they were unable to find routes in the mobile game, which caused frustration as Niantic recently introduced the “A to Zygarde” Special Research Challenge which required the use of routes to claim rewards.
Niantic Support took to Twitter to explain their approval process. They said they have a “comprehensive review process” to assess the viability and safety of each route. The length of the process can vary depending on the number of entries received, but it usually takes at least a week or more.
Criticism of Niantic’s handling of the Routes feature extended to platforms such as the Silph Road subreddit on Reddit. Some players believe Niantic should have introduced the routes a week earlier to ensure they were approved before the Special Research Challenge began.
Another player mentioned that Niantic rushed the release of Routes, leading to numerous bugs. They compared it to previous features which were also released prematurely.
In related news, Niantic has rescheduled the Squirtle Community Day Classic, which was originally scheduled for July 23 but was plagued with connection issues.
