Internet Outage Error 503: Amazon, Reddit, Spotify and Others Down After “Fastly …
Several websites affected by a major outage report that the issue is related to Fastly, a cloud computing service provider.
The Guardian tweeted: “The Guardian website and app are currently affected by a wider internet outage and will be back as soon as possible”
Alex Hern, the Guardian’s tech editor, tweeted that Fastly “has been identified as the cause of the problem.”
The outage, which began shortly before 11 a.m. UK time, saw visitors from a wide range of sites receive error messages, including ‘Error 503 Service not available’ and a ‘login failure “terse,” he tweeted.
The Quartz site also attributed the problem to Fastly via Twitter.
Other affected websites included the online discussion platform Reddit, the Evening Standard and the French newspaper Le Monde.
The Down Detector service monitoring website spiked in crash reports for Amazon’s Amazon Web Services cloud computing platform.
Tuesday at 11 am, the site recorded 1,700 reports.
