President Biden faces criticism from Republicans and Democrats about escalating violence between Israel and Palestinians in the region which saw a Hamas rocket attack target Jerusalem.
Lawmakers from very different ends of the political spectrum have targeted Biden and his administration over the growing violence in the region, calling on the president on violence in the region, albeit for different reasons.
Senator Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., Called on the Biden administration to “strongly condemn Hamas”, the Palestinian terrorist group that launched rockets at Jerusalem as the city celebrated Jerusalem Day on Monday.
“The Biden administration should strongly condemn Hamas and other terrorists who exploit tensions in Jerusalem to launch rocket attacks against innocent civilians,” Hagerty tweeted. “The United States should unequivocally support Israel’s right to defend its citizens.

House Armed Services Committee representative Michael Waltz, R-Fla., Also criticized Biden, telling Fox News on Monday that the administration’s “real actions” are “incredibly unnecessary” even though their speech “sounds good.”
“They gave up all the leverage right off the bat, and saw this was a theme with the Biden administration in terms of distributing money hoping that fixes the situation,” the congressman said. “So they’ve already agreed to donate hundreds of millions of dollars unconditionally.”
Waltz noted that the Biden administration could have used the money it donated to leverage the Palestinian Authority to “denounce Hamas” or change school curricula that describe Israel as “evil.”
“And, above all, without changing the government situation on the ground. There is only endemic corruption within the Palestinian government which is doing its people a disservice,” he said. “Still, American taxpayer money is going to come back into this situation.”

On the other hand, Firebrand Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. who backed the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement targeting Israel has savagely declared that the United States “allows” violence in the region by granting foreign aid to Israel and criticized the Biden administration for not having said Israel is using aid to “commit human rights violations.”
“US taxpayer money must not be used to commit human rights abuses. It must be said,” Tlaib said Monday on MSNBC. “I haven’t heard anyone from the Biden administration say so yet.”
White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Monday that the Biden administration had “serious concerns” about the situation and highlighted National Security Advisor Jake Sullivans’ reading during the appeal with Israeli National Security Advisor Meir Ben-Shabbat.
